I will make sketches for you, look at yours, and together work towards the finished product. I have often gone to the fabric store and snapped photos to show my clients their options.

I am reasonably priced!

I determine what the outfit is worth and that is exactly what I charge. No price hikes involved!

I will only be able to accept a limited amount of custom orders!

So if you have asked for something in the past, bring it back to me! If you have a new idea, share it with me! I will let you know what I can do.

I have been swamped with school which has severely cut into my free time, however...I wasn't going to let fall come and go without taking some doll photos.

Yesterday, the weather was perfect for a photo shoot. I got Kaya and Mia all dressed up and headed out to take advantage of the fall colors. I had a blast!

I was going to be patient and wait until Thanksgiving to post these photos, but I can't wait that long! Enjoy! :-)

Create Your Own -- Pirate Outfit --

One of the questions that I am asked frequently is how I made the pirate outfit Jess was wearing in my recent pirate post. The truth is that I didn't make this outfit...not really! Just for fun, I am going to share how I came up with this outfit and how you can do the same.

- Base Layer - Start with something simple, like undergarments. For mine, I used Felicity's shift that comes with her meet outfit.

- Bottom Layer - Tucked away in the pile of dress-up clothes that I constantly used growing up, is a frilly white girl's slip. If I fold it just so, I can "shrink" it down and create a wonderful skirt that fits the dolls! As an overskirt, I used pieces from the outfit below that I sewed. Using safety pins, I pinned up the skirt in front and then concealed the pins by tying ribbons onto the safety pins.

If you don't have a petticoat, you could even use a pair of bloomers under the skirt!

- Corset - Once again, I made use of the corset from a previous outfit. This time though, I turned it around so that it laced up the front. Corsets are easy to make and can be as simple as a strip of fabric with eyelets placed at each end!

- Hair & Accessories -

I was inspired by Jack Sparrow for Jess's hairstyle. To do it, I tied a strip of fabric around Jess's head and then braided some pieces and let them go over the band.

For a cool accessory, I made use of a necklace that was in my jewelry box. If you had a little dagger, that would make a great accessory as well!

A pirate outfit is fun thing to create. Chances are if you have a few bits and pieces here and there and use your imagination...you'll design a great pirate outfit!

I have made it through my first two college semesters, ran a 5K, developed new patterns, and so much more recently. I haven't bought a doll since May 2009, and I felt I deserved to treat myself to a new doll to celebrate!

Bridesmaid Dress

I decided to make the dress out of satin, with an organza layer that went over the skirt. I have to say that working with all of that slippery fabric was very difficult.

I have said it before and I will say it again...I am at my happiest when I am creating doll clothes from the American Girl book illustrations. For me, it is so much more interesting to make something completely fresh and from scratch.

The latest dress from "off the page" is Harriet's yellow dress. A member on AGPT commissioned me to make it for her and I was more than happy to take it on.

In honor of this very special day, I did a photo shoot. I have been impatiently holding onto these photos for a week!

The goal with this shoot was to be as creative as possible without spending a penny. I have to say that I am thrilled with the results of my work!

I knew that I wanted to use a white backdrop and incorporate hearts into it. I spotted this craft on Martha Stewart's website...

...and knew it would be perfect. I strung them onto white thread and hung them across the backdrop. I think it creates such a neat effect!

Valentine themed outfits are a problem for me. I decided against going with the usual novelty prints and opted for plain old pink. The key was to make the plain old pink as fancy as possible! For Traveling Noelle and Marisol's tops, I used Liberty Jane's pattern...

...and I embellished Noelle's shirt with a chiffon flower and paired both tops with skirts.

I have a thing for setting my heart on complicated projects. My thought line is that it won't be that difficult...but I quickly find out that there is a lot more involved than I had ever dreamed. Project Impossible this time was a pettiskirt. I created it using this pattern...

...but I do not know if I could ever do it again. It was just too much work. I have to say though that these pettiskirts are the most amazing things on earth! I would have loved to wear one when I was a little girl.

As some of you might know, I often sew and sell my creations. My absolute favorite jobs happen when someone comes to me with an idea for an outfit and asks me to make it a reality. I love doing it because it is such a creative process and requires you to really focus on just how to put the outfit together.

Recently, a member on AGPlaythings, came to me and asked if I could make Addy's opera dress from one of her mystery books. She presented me with a sketch, I said I could and we bounced ideas off of each other. Firinel, which is the username of the lady, gets full credit for the design ideas on this dress! I think it looks fantastic and I am thrilled that I was able to create it for her!

The fall swap on AGFMB was fantastic this year! I adored the outfit that I received and I was able to come up with a nice outfit to give as well...

I recently completed a red corduroy dress for a customer. Can you believe that my fabric store did not have a scrap of the fabric I needed in stock? It wasn't hard to track some down though, and I think the dress turned out lovely...

To make the dress, I based it off of an outfit from the Wooden Soldier...
